Online tutoring for schools

Online alternative provision support

We are currently working with over half of England’s local authorities. Schools are partnering up with us for intervention and transition strategies and booster classes for Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), students with medical needs, pupils on part timetables and students struggling with mental health issues. We also help schools meet their pupil premium and pupil premium plus commitments. We are going from strength to strength within local authorities and due to our efficient service we are able to:

  • Remove complicated admin and utilise consistent and useful feedback reports
  • Help schools save money – we’re more cost effective than face to face tutoring – lessons start from £13
  • Help schools save time – we schedule the lessons and hire the teachers – all teachers are UK based, fully qualified and DBS checked

We’ve worked with over half of England’s local education authorities including…

Key benefits at a glance

Feedback

School contacts, social workers, carers and students have access to feedback reports which are filled out after every lesson. This enables everyone to measure the student’s progress. Learn more.

Lesson plans

Lessons are planned in advance based on assessment results, information from the referrer and the tutor’s own observations. However, our tutors are happy to adapt their plans if the student asks to work on something else, perhaps because they struggled with something they learnt in school and they want to go over it again. Targets

Targets can be set by you for the student which the tutors will use as the focus for lessons. We have content for every area of the national curriculum at every level so we are in a perfect position to help, whatever the goals may be.

Support

TLC LIVE’s partnerships with schools and local authorities ensures tuition is targeted, supporting both long and short term goals.

Cost effective

Schools and local authorities save money with TLC LIVE meaning they can offer tuition to more students. We are more cost effective than face-to-face tutoring. Learn more.

Summary

Summary reports are available for Ofsted inspectors and help support schools’ pupil premium commitments. Schools may also use our reports to show parents and guardians their children’s progress.

Why TLC LIVE tutoring works

The key areas that schools are currently using TLC LIVE sessions for are:

  • Pupil premium intervention + students needing extra support + EAL students
  • Students who need additional lessons leading up to GCSEs or SATs
  • Gifted and talented children + looked after children + Year 12 and 13 retakes
  • Children not attending school (due to exclusion, home tutoring, or long term illness)

We have developed over 158,000 questions for learning, inline with the national curriculum and the main UK exam boards.

We are a preferred tuition provider for over 500 schools nationwide and a government-certified quality assured tuition partner.

At the time of writing, our teachers have tutored 48,624 students and delivered 798,994 sessions.

In 2022/23, on average, each TLC LIVE pupil made over seven months of attainment progress in the academic year, with 89% of students rating the tutoring good/excellent.
